THE SUNSHINE SEASON
An optimistic, happy season bursting with hopes, dreams and the promise of sunshine.
It’s the season you yearn for. Memories are made here. The desire is to live this way forever.
The attitude to dressing is like the essence of summer; beautiful, playful and free.
The story is set in L.A:
Beauty, Optimism, Ritzy Lifestyle, Sun-Flecked Scenes, Hopes, Sunshine State, Dreams, Escapism, Ideals, Expectations, New Light, Clean, Exciting, Heat, Tan, Sex, Hollywood, Glamour, Myth & Legend, Ambition, Silver Screen, Icons, Skin, Promise, Horizon, Speed, Effortless, Hot, Youth Culture, Americana, Beach, Art, Architecture, Literature, Sunshine, Clarity, Modernity, Aspirations, Inspirational.
The characters are:
Womenswear – A Nineties girl with sexy attitude. She loves clean lines and minimalism in tailoring. Downtime reveals a grungier edge; she has a love for slouchy knits, statement prints and sexy leather. During high summer she turns to the playfulness of 1940s poolside glamour and plays to her coquettish, girly side.
Menswear – A sophisticated guy with creative flair. Not afraid to experiment with tailoring, he makes bold choices (sometimes showing a flash of skin). He has an artistic, romantic approach to softer tailoring, mixing vintage-inspired prints and fabrics with more structured pieces. Poolside is where he showcases personality in bold colours and prints.
The chapters are:
February
A time for structure in womenswear. Focus on tailoring, 90s, clean lines, jackets, shorts and fluid trousers; a working wardrobe in cream, cappuccino and indigo.
Transitional pieces for menswear. The jacket is the main focus, from cottons to leathers, bikers to macs in copper, and neutral tones. Simple layering with key pieces builds a foundation for your wardrobe.
March
Fluid tailoring and modernist looks make womenswear. Think 90s Calvin Klein, clean, fluid lines, unfussy and modern. Crisp white, mint and pastel shades prevail in dresses, fluid pants and jackets.
Tailoring is key for menswear. Centre on the double-breasted suit and a strong, sexy, high-end take on tailoring. Stealth and daring styling offers classic blue a luxe edge.
April
Prints on prints and grunge glam awaken womenswear. Kate Moss and It girl grunge is the mood. Riotous prints on prints and block colours work maxis with chunky knits and lashings of leather.
The softly tailored poet is menswear. Sixties artists and beatniks influence the April poet. Deconstructed, romantic tailoring, DB blazers, chinos and linen shirts are effortlessly executed.
May
Maxis are strong for womenswear. A time to play with silhouettes and step up the glamour; printed, pleated, split leg, dip-dye styles are paired with chunky sweaters.
Texture and summer knits are strong for menswear. An introduction to colour; vintage-inspired knits are refined and sophisticated with tailored shorts and espadrilles for a stylish summer’s evening.
June
1940s poolside and coquette chic play for womenswear. Flirtatious, playful and glamorous; high waist shorts, swimwear, beach dresses and bold prints finally make their splash.
Poolside looks and summer eveningwear make menswear. Playful, quirky and vintage-inspired; terry towelling polo shirts, graphic print swim shorts are worn by day and sexy suits with sandals by night.
