Hardy Amies thrived in the late forties and fifties as hardy dressed a string of celebrities, film stars and royalty from around the world. He was a peer of fashion icons such as Christian Dior, Coco Chanel and Christobal Balenciaga and was awarded the royal warrant (“by appointment”) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955.

Throughout the sixties Hardy Amies was the most contemporary of brands for both men’s wear and women’s wear. At the same time he was making dresses for the likes of the queen and Audrey Hepburn whilst making super sharp suits at affordable prices for the average fashion conscious man on the street. The only fashion brand ever to be totally credible at these two opposite ends of the spectrum without ever diluting his message and classic styling.

In 2006 the business developed and launched a wholesale range to critical acclaim. The first retail store outside Savile Row opened in Edinburgh on 18 October 2007, quickly followed in November 2007 by a men’s store in Chester and a women’s store on the Fulham Road in London and now Victoria Square, Belfast
